Khadijah Mellah

18 years old and off to university this year to study engineering, Khadijah Mellah made headlines when she started training for her first race on a horse at The Magnolia Cup at the Goodwood Races. Her training was intense as it coincided with revising for her A-Levels and fasting during Ramadan. She wasn’t expected to win, nor was her horse, Haverland, deemed to be the fastest of steeds. Her trainers were preparing her to finish the race. She had first sat on a race horse only two months before. Bonded with a united thirst for the finish line, Khadijah and Haverland dug deep and pushed on to cross that line in first position. The first British hijabi to ever compete in a horse race and she won! We are so proud of Khadijah.
